Boca Chica, Key West, FL …

Sunset at Boca Chica beach

This week was a week to accomplish much needed work on LESSER LIGHT, like change the oil, polish fiberglass and stainless steel and repair our dinghy which we learned had some damage after all after when we hit a piling while departing from a marina in VA.  The lower grungeon that holds the lower pin for the rudder had snapped.  Luke did a great job and the sailing dinghy is ready to go!  We had a quiet New Year’s Eve when we remembered some wonderful memories of years gone by like serving at the First Church watchlight service and fellowship with friends.  We watched the movie, Pilgrim’s Progress with popped corn.  This week we also said bye for now to our neighbors on THIRD REEF as they were moved to “C” dock and we went into town for provisions.  Upon our return, we noticed another boat next to our boat with the name, “QUEEN ANN’S REVENGE”….I read the name aloud as it sounded familiar to me…then I remembered!

Hank and Ann on QUEEN ANN'S REVENGE

This was the name of the boat our friends, Jim and Barb from GOLDEN LILY in Westbrook said would follow shortly after we departed Clinton and that we would hopefully catch up with them.  We had connected along the way and obtained much needed information like a list of Navy marinas on the east coast.  We finally met Hank and Ann on New Year’s Eve who are now docked beside us!  They are from Tennessee and have been cruising for many years and have also completed the Great Loop.  They know many here as they have been here each of the last three years.  They have been very supportive to us via their AGLCA website blog.  Isn’t God amazing!  Yesterday we were so happy to see Roger and Ann from THIRD

Peter and Jane

REEF with their yellow lab, Spice as they dinghied to our boat to say hi and to share some sea shells they had found.  Spice was wet after having a fun swim. Today, we worshipped God at Big Coppitt Baptist Church where the sermon, based on Mark 4:35-41 about Jesus calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee.  We are reminded as we embark on a new year to 1) make sure Jesus is aboard, 2) to remember to call on Him (pray to the one who has total control), and 3) to wait in patience for His response.  We then went to Denny’s for lunch with Peter and Jane to celebrate Peter’s birthday and then had a nice Sunday drive where we spotted some beautiful birds and an iguana before heading back to their boat, BRIGHT MORNING, for a slice of birthday cake.   We are looking forward to seeing our son, Blaine, his wife Elise, our granddaughter, Zoe and our daughter, Kaely as they will arrive this week to spend a few days with us.   Happy New Year  to you all!  love, m and l.
