Atlantic Ocean Pier

Boca Chica USN Marina, Key West.  This was a very busy week.  One night we rode another trolley around KW and saw all the Christmas decorated houses that won the contest for decorations.  Went with 1st Bapt. Church group where we’re worshipping and enjoying Bible Study.  Many kids aboard which made it extra fun.  Went to Christmas Eve Service at the Navy chapel.  Met the new chaplain, David and his family (4 girls aged 4-7) from Texas.  Very nice service with candles lit for each of the Nativity Scene figures.  Had dinner that night with friends,

New neighbors, Roger and Anne from Maine

Anne & Roger, at Bobalu’s which is owned by Italian family who brought thin crust pizza here from New Haven.  Rode our bikes all over town and hit several beautiful beaches and piers, a Civil War munitions site and Fort Zachary Taylor.  Christmas Day buffet dinner at the marina with 60 in attendance.

Boca Chica Christmas dinner

We ate deep fried turkey and ham prepared outside  and a vast array of dishes brought by all the residents at the marina.  We were outside with the blue sky and temps in the 70’s.   The new chaplain and his family were on the beach and their kids swam in the little beach off the marina.  They came over to see our boat and neighbor’s trawler.

Pastor David and family visit

Very nice family and they thanked us for a nice welcome to KW.  God works like that.   We were excited to talk with many family members and friends over this weekend (it warmed Michelle’s heart that our son, Scott and his girlfriend, Daisy carried on the tradition of baking a mocha roll for Christmas Eve). We also got to speak with our sons, Keith, daughter Kaely and were excited when we got a call on Skype from our son, Blaine, his wife Elise, and our granddaughter, Zoe via Skype.   It’s strange being in this beautiful weather when New England is being bombarded with a Nor-easter snow storm.  We got the tail end of the storm last night with heavy rain at 3am and high winds thru today.  Nothing at all like what they are getting up in CT right now.  Our thoughts and prayers are with our loved ones in CT.

  1. Hey guys,

You’re probably enjoying the sun….Paul is out snowblowing a foot of snow that fell yesreday. First Church is closed today, digging out. See all the “fun” you’re missing! Enjoy the warmth. You’ll have to bring some of those unique recipes you find in your travels back to CT! See you in 2011!

Will you be back in May? Tell Luke we’ll need a ride to the White Plains airport to fly to Texas for Brandon’s graduation….but it won’t be a Miata convertible, just a boring Chevy Trailblazer.

    Love,

    Marcia & Paul

    • Hi Marcia!
So good to hear from you. We miss you guys too. Luke said to let you know we should be back in May so far as we know now and we will give you updates. So he would love to take you to the airport, even if the car isn’t a Miata (go figure this guy’s getting blessed all over the place!) The Lieutenant Commander was supposed to come back on Christmas Day but was delayed due to the snow in Boston so Luke has the car for one or two more days!

  2. Happy New Year!.
We had 12 over for dinner and the game taboo. We will cheer on the U Conn. football team. We miss you. God Bless. David and Joyce.

  3. Hi Luke & Michelle – Happy New Year! It’s so exciting to follow your adventures, and I’m so jealous that you all are wearing shorts & t-shirts! Luke, you asked if the new owners moved in at 199 Parsonage and they have – with their two giant GREAT DANES! I’ve only spoken to them a couple times when they’ve been out while I walked Dingo. They took a long time to move in because they were doing something with the floors but seem to be settled in. They put up a big wreath with a red bow on the front of the house and lit it up with a spotlight for the season – very pretty! We miss your snow blowing mission but Pete Carlson helped Fred with the driveway this past storm because the gas cap to our snow blower went missing. Fred bought a new gas cap and a newer and larger snow blower the other day! Continued blessings to you both in 2011!!
    Arlene & Fred
