Looking out for skinny waters

N 32′ 46. 210’/W 080′ 03. 730′–We departed early at 7:30 a.m. from Beaufort, SC and had sunny weather, smooth as silk waters, winds were 12 knots from the North.

Strong currents slowed us down

With the exception of some strong currents as one creek or river crossed another, we had a very pleasant ride today.  We noticed less marsh land, more trees and even some pine trees winding our way toward Charleston.  The Low Country is beautiful.

Beauty everywhere!

We met two trawlers along the way and we helped each other through some of the skinny waters;

CAROLINA

CAROLINA is one of them and we took a nice picture of them underway.  I hope we will see them again on the way north so that we can share this picture with them.  They asked us if this boat was in the Hartford Boat Show in 2007.  When we responded, “Yes”, they said they had stepped aboard our boat.  It’s a pretty small world in the skinny waters of the Low Country.  We arrived just 10 miles south of Charleston around 4 p.m. but decided to stay at the

View on Stono River at Sunset

Ross Marina on Stono River as Charleston harbor is the 4th busiest harbor in the United States.  Tomorrow we will tug through Charleston, SC to see the sites all the way to Georgetown, SC and either anchor or stay at a marina we stayed at on our way south.  Leftovers tonight!  Thanks be to God who always provides.

  1. Hi Michelle and Luke,
    We soooo love all your blogs!! IT’s auch fun following your travels as you come back North. We are wondering when you plan to arrive in Long Island Sound. We’d love to greet you at Leetes Island, Guilford!! That’s REALLY close to home.
    What we have so enjoyed is seeing how many wonderful people you have met along the way and how everyone is so willing to help each other. It’s a very special God-Given experience.
    God Bless you both!
