Boca Chica NAS marina…In just a few days we’ll be loosening the lines from the dock here and heading north to CT.  Our expected arrival date will be in the first week of May.  This week, we were invited to lunch by our friend Roger who we met several times on our way down the ICW.

Saying good-bye to Roger

Roger lives aboard his Flica 19 sailboat moored here with Kitty, his maine coon cat who reminds us of Spuds (our maine coon cat who died about 6 years ago).  We were also blessed with a car which allowed us to visit the beach one last time, get hair cuts, and obtain necessary supplies needed for the journey.  We fixed our anchor light are fueled up.  We said good-bye to our friends at the fitness center.

Annual Conche Blowing Contest

Yesterday, we attended the annual Conche Blowing contest held at the “Oldest House” here in Key West.  It’s a long time tradition where many ages compete in various categories.  Our marina once again has won in the “group” category where the men blew the conchs and the women “conchettes” danced to the tune of “Dancing Queen”.  Each day at sunset here in Key West, it seems wherever people are, they stop to view the sunset and many (including those here at the marina) blow their conche’s to say thank you to God for another beautiful day and awesome sunset.   Today we worshipped at Big Coppitt First Baptist Church and attended Bible study for the last time.  We said good-bye to the church who welcomed us with open arms and through whom, God placed His loving arms around us, invited us to come and join Him in the work He is doing here, encouraged us and nourished us for our spiritual journey.  We are truly blessed.

Tomorrow we’ll study our charts to determine the safest way north and then we’ll do some final last minute preparations, say good-bye to dear friends Peter and Jane, Ed and Claudia and others who we’ve met here then wait for our weather “open window”.  God is with us!  We trust Him to bring us safely home.
